Sampler Quilt 2011 - Week 42 - T Block

The T-Block quilt block is made with half square triangles and squares and uses 2 fabrics. It's set in a 3 by 3 square grid layout.

Fabric instructions

Background Fabric: Cut 1 strip 2½ inches wide. Sub cut into 1 square and 7 half square triangles using a half square triangle ruler (see instructions).
Accent Fabric: Cut 1 strip 2½ inches wide. Sub cut into 1 square and 7 half square triangles using a half square triangle ruler (see instructions).

Half Square Triangle instructions

  1. Match 1 strip of each fabric right sides together.
  2. Using a side right triangle ruler, cut half square triangles. Move ruler upside down for next cut when necessary.
  3. Sew ¼ inch seam on long side of triangle pair.
  4. Press seam to one side.

Finishing instructions

Layout each T-Block units as shown and chain piece together first rows, then columns using a ¼ inch seam. Press seams to one side.
