Kings Crown

The King's Crown is a fairly simple quilt block using half square triangles, flying geese and squares set in a 2 by 2 square grid layout. There are several ways to use pieces in this block and as you can see at least 2 ways to select fabric.

Whirling Geese table top quilt

Finished size: 22 inches square
For the Whirling Geese table top quilt, you'll need 4 fabrics or 3 fabric groups and a border. All strips are 2½ inches wide, so get out your jelly rolls and have fun!

Blocks

Use the Whirling Geese calculator with the default settings to make the quilt top blocks.
Method: Special Rulers
Block Size: 6"
Columns: 3
Rows: 4

Border

Cut 3 strips 2½ inches wide. Sew borders to top and bottom, then sides.

Finishing

Use background fabric and batting of at least 25 inches square to sandwich and baste quilt using your favorite method. Quilt as desired and attach your choice of binding (double mitered instructions) to finish.

The Dutchman's Puzzle block is made with 8 flying geese units or 16 half square triangle units. Each block generally uses 3 different fabrics, a background with 2 complimentary fabrics.
