Churn Dash Sampler quilt

Block layouts can also be used as the background for a sampler quilt. In this case we had nine blocks from monthly quilt guild projects and used them in a Churn Dash block with border.

Here is how it was put together. Each sampler block is a 12-1/2" block including seam allowances.

  • Half square triangle formula: (finished block size ÷ 1.41) + 7/8" seam allowance - cut in half on diagonal.
  • Rectangle piece width formula: (((finished block size ÷ 1.41) × 2) - finished block size) + 1/2" seam allowance.
  • Rectangle piece length: finished block size + 1/2" seam allowance.
The border is any width you desire if any.
