Sampler Quilt 2011 - Week 18 - Mariners Compass

This simple eight point Mariners Compass block is a paper piecing project. You will need to make sure template is printed at 100% for accurate sizing. Download the Mariner's Compass Template PDF and print 2 copies for the block. You will need 5 fabrics for this block, the background and 4 other fabrics, a medium and dark from 2 color groups.

Background Fabric: 1 strip 2½ inches wide.
4 Point Fabrics: 1 strip each 1½ inches wide.

There are 8 total template pieces, 4 each of right and left sections. The right sections use a background and the darker of the point fabrics. For the left sections use a background and the medium of the point fabrics. Color group A is fabric 2 on the template and color group B is fabric 3 on the templates.
