You'll need backing and batting at least 21 inches square. For the binding, you'll need about 3 strips 2¼ inches wide.
Sandwiching Quilt
- Place pressed backing right side down on a flat surface large enough to lay flat.
- Tape in place at sides, then corners.
- Lay 2 to 4 layers of batting on top of backing and smooth wrinkles.
- Tape in place at sides, then corners.
- Put pressed quilt on top right side up.
- Smooth borders and blocks square, pushing excess toward middle. Quilting will take up slack and quilt will be square.
- Pin baste 3 to 4 inches apart.
- Quilt as desired using a walking foot. Adjust presser foot pressure to accommodate quilt thickness to prevent backing from sliding while quilting.
