Diamond Nine Patch Quilt - Part 3

Sandwiching, quilting, binding, oh my!

You'll need backing and batting at least 21 inches square. For the binding, you'll need about 3 strips 2¼ inches wide.

Sandwiching Quilt

  1. Place pressed backing right side down on a flat surface large enough to lay flat.
  2. Tape in place at sides, then corners.
  3. Lay 2 to 4 layers of batting on top of backing and smooth wrinkles.
  4. Tape in place at sides, then corners.
  5. Put pressed quilt on top right side up.
  6. Smooth borders and blocks square, pushing excess toward middle. Quilting will take up slack and quilt will be square.
  7. Pin baste 3 to 4 inches apart.
  8. Quilt as desired using a walking foot. Adjust presser foot pressure to accommodate quilt thickness to prevent backing from sliding while quilting.
