Diamond Nine Patch Quilt - Part 2

Time for the borders. All 3 borders are attached as straight borders. First you sew both sides on with a ¼ inch seam and press seams toward borders. Then you sew on the top and bottom with a ¼ inch seam and again press seams toward the borders. The difference is that the 2nd border is pieced with lots of colorful squares. All strips and squares are 1½ inches wide.

Border 1 - Cut 2 side strips 11½ inches long and the top and bottom strips should be 13½ inches long. Sew on to quilt top.

Border 2 - Cut 26 assorted color squares 1½ inches and cut 30 background squares of the same size. Sew 2 side strip sets with 6 color squares separated and starting and stopping with background squares. Sew a top and bottom set using 7 color squares separated, starting and stopping with background squares. Sew on to quilt top.

Border 3 - Cut 2 side strips 15½ inches long and a top and bottom strip each 17½ inches long. Sew on to quilt top.

Tomorrow, part 3, finishing it up.

Part 1, Part 2, Part 3

Happy Quilting,
Jeanne
