Sampler Quilt 2011 - Week 31 - Road to Oklahoma

The Road to Oklahoma block is made with squares and half square triangles and uses 4 fabrics. All pieces are cut from 2 inch strips.

Fabric instructions

Background: Cut 4 half square triangles from 2 inch strips.
Accent 1: Cut 4 squares 2 inches by 2 inches.
Accent 2: Cut 6 squares 2 inches by 2 inches.
Accent 3: Cut 2 squares 2 inches by 2 inches and 4 half square triangles from 2 inch strips.

Half Square Triangle unit instructions

  • Match 2 inch strips of Background and Accent 3 fabric right sides together.
  • Cut 4 pair half square triangles from strips using half square triangle ruler, turning ruler as needed.
  • Sew ¼ inch seam on long side of triangle pairs.
  • Press seam to one side.
Final instructions

To finish Road to Oklahoma block, layout units as shown in picture and chain piece first rows, then columns with a ¼ inch seam. Press seams to one side.
