Sampler Quilt 2011 - Week 48 - Autumn Tints

The Autumn Tints quilt block is made with squares and four patch units using 4 fabrics set in a 2 by 2 square grid layout.



Fabric Instructions

Background: Cut 4 squares from 2 inch strips.
Fabric 2: Cut 2 squares from 2 inch strips.
Fabric 3: Cut 2 squares from 3½ inch strips.
Fabric 4: Cut 2 squares from 2 inch strips.

Four Patch Instructions

  1. Layout 2 Background square opposite diagonally with Fabric 2 & 4 opposite diagonally.
  2. Turn column 2 row 1 square on top of column 1 row 1 fabric right sides together.
  3. Sew a ¼ inch seam on right side, do not cut thread.
  4. Turn column 2 row 2 square on top of column 1 row 2 fabric right sides together.
  5. Sew a ¼ inch seam on right side.
  6. Rotate unit and sew remaining ¼ inch seam.
  7. Press seams to one side.
Make 2 four patch units with 2 inch squares.

Autumn Tints Finishing Instructions

Layout remaining Fabric 3 squares and four patch units as shown and chain piece together first rows, then columns using a ¼ inch seam. Press seams to one side.
