Sampler Quilt 2011 - Week 47 - Bachelors Puzzle

The Bachelors Puzzle block uses 4 fabrics of squares and half square triangles set in a 2 by 2 square grid layout.

Fabric Instructions

Background: Cut 8 half square triangles from 2 inch strips using a half square triangle ruler.
Fabric 2: Cut 4 squares from 2 inch strips.
Fabric 3: Cut 8 half square triangles from 2 inch strips using a half square triangle ruler.
Fabric 4: Cut 8 half square triangles from 2 inch strips using a half square triangle ruler.

Half Square Triangle Unit Instructions

1. Match 1 strip of each fabric right sides together.
2. Using a side right triangle ruler, cut half square triangles. Move ruler upside down for next cut when necessary.
3. Sew ¼ inch seam on long side of triangle pair.
4. Press seam to one side.

Make 4 each of Background & Fabric 3, Background & Fabric 4 and Fabric 3 & 4.

Bachelors Puzzle Finishing Instructions

Layout each Bachelors Puzzle block units as shown and chain piece together first rows, then columns using a ¼ inch seam. Press seams to one side.
